What is Modernism?

Modernism, in the arts, a radical break with the past and the concurrent search for new forms of expression. Modernism fostered a period of experimentation in the arts from the late 19th to the mid-20th century, particularly in the years following World War I. Since it is both philosophical movement and art movement is can be interpreted as a way to reject the traditional values.

What Is minimalism?

Minimalism describes movements in various forms of art and design, especially visual art and music, where the work is set out to expose the essence, essentials or identity of a subject through eliminating all non-essential forms, features or concepts.

Rules of Minimalism:

  • Simplistic, almost purified

  • Precise borders between areas of colours

  • Flat colours 

  • Bland background 

  • Silhouettes 

  • Shapes

  • lack of detail
